"Paintings
can be spiritual in their impact," she insists. "Behind the shapes and
values exists a raison d'etre. This may be why works of art, writing, and
music sometimes take off on their own. "Artists feel when the flow begins
and they must let go.

Biography
I was a working Journalist and Freelancer for most of my life, and am
still writing episodic things for future stories or what I call "My
Book." I have interviewed many celebrities, including Eleanor Roosevelt,
her son, Elliot, President Nixon, the Post Master General of that era
and many Movie stars who came through St. Louis, Mo and Decatur, Il.
during World War II.
Later
in Nebraska, where my husband and I worked together as Editor and
Publisher of a small daily newspaper, I received an award from the
University of Nebraska for my news coverage, later from the University
of Kansas in Topeka for my sketches and editorials, and dabbled in
politics. During our eight years, we created many awards for our effort,
belonged to the National Press Association, and hopefully left a
footstep in Time in York, Neb. My final front page editorial, "York Is
Such a Place" was reprinted by the Omaha World Herald a after my move to
the West Coast. It illustrated the Culture Change.
Portraits were my beginning in Fine Art in Laguna Beach CA . My mother
met a young artist working on the lawn of the Laguna Art Museum .
Mother, Daughter, and my two children were then depicted in Pastel. I
couldn't wait to try this myself, and did so, selling portraits before I
had any formal Art training. My first studies began with a
correspondence course from Connecticut. I still teach anatomy from these
books. My formal entry into the Study of Fine Art was culminated when my
children were teenagers at Whitworth College, Spokane, WA. in 1968. I
have sold paintings in six States and one portrait to a patron in
France. Since my husband's death, I have continued to Paint, Photograph,
Read and Write, (for the local newspapers), and Teach Piano-Art on the
South Sound, Port Orchard, WA. It is my sincere HOPE that you who see
this website, enjoy the tour and feel free to contact me, leaving your
name and interests on the Guest Book there.
With sincere thanks,
Virginia Rollo Huber
